Dr. Norris has been a Diplomate of the
American
College of Veterinary
Surgeons since 2002, and joined the surgical team here at
VRC in 2006. She is a
graduate of UC Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine,
and finished an internship at the Animal Medical
Center in New York City in 1998.
Following a surgical residency at Tufts University
and Angell
Memorial
Animal
Hospital
in Boston,
she was a lecturer in the department of surgery at The
University of Pennsylvania from 2001-2002.
Dr. Norris offers both soft tissue and orthopedic surgery
services here at Veterinary Referral Center.
Her special surgical interests include external skeletal
fixation, fracture repair, cardiothoracic surgery, neurology
and neurosurgery, skin and reconstructive surgery, and
surgical disease of the airway, particularly, tracheal
collapse. She is the author of the original research
findings from Tufts University
involving the use of intraluminal tracheal stent placement
for dogs with tracheal collapse, and is now able to provide
this novel treatment option for this condition to VRC’s
clients. She is also well accomplished in both lateral
suture placement and TPLO technique for the treatment of the
most common orthopedic disease of dogs, rupture of the
cranial cruciate ligament. Dr. Norris has an ongoing
interest in pain management both for the acute surgical
patient, and chronic pain management of degenerative
osteoarthritis, including NSAID therapy, chondroprotective
agents, and novel therapies such as physical therapy /
rehabilitation.
Dr. Norris is available weekly at VRC on Monday through
Wednesday and every other Friday for surgical referrals.
Please feel free to call for telephone consultations at any
time. We encourage you to avail yourself of her services so
that we can continue to meet the growing demands of our
referring veterinary colleagues
