Dr.
Slensky is originally from Connecticut and graduated from
veterinary school at Purdue University in Indiana. She
completed a small animal rotating medical and surgical
internship at the University of Minnesota and practiced for
one year in an emergency referral hospital in St. Paul. She
completed a three-year residency at the University of
Pennsylvania and is board certified by the American College
of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. Dr. Slensky is a part of a research team that received major grants for the investigation of the effects of low molecular weight heparin in normal cats. This important research is expected to provide the basis for treatment of cats with caudal aortic thromboembolism. Dr. Slensky has lectured at the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Symposium and has written on deployment morbidity among search and rescue dogs used after the World Trade Center attacks, thoracic and abdominal trauma and endocrine emergencies. |
